We have worked with the excellent agency Twelve since they were founded over 4 years ago. The relationship has seen us work on all sizes of projects with them, sometimes in a full production company capacity and other times sharing the responsibility for production between us.
This shoot for the household brand Savlon was a perfect project for us; it combined commercial work with fiction work, capturing performances from actors and telling cohesive self-contained stories. Each story need a ‘moment’ and we all agreed that we wanted to films to feel ever so slightly heightened.
The Brief
We worked with Twelve to ensure we could stretch the budget as far as possible, meaning we were collaborating to figure out how many films we could capture over 2 days, how we would go about utilising all areas of the chosen location, dressing it to look different, advising on styling options and putting together a talented and nimble crew.
We agreed to shoot over 2 days and worked closely with Twelve to figure out how best to tell each story in the most succinct and clear way possible. Working on the structure and story of each film to build the problem, the drama and the resolution all in 30 second, bite-size chunks.
Director Jonathan Nicol and cinematographer Alessandro Di Rosa recce’d the location and worked out the camera work and blocking for each film, allowing Other Finger Films and Twelve to co-produce the scheduling for the day.
The Approach
The Results
We created 5 films in total, each with their own little arc. The flims have a playful look and feel to them, with a comedic edge. Not intended to feel too serious these ‘Little Dramas’ are about how Savlon can play a part in the everyday mishaps.
